ABOUT THE AUTHOR KATHY MENDOZA
Kathy Mendoza was born and raised in Cross Village, which is believe to be the oldest continual settlement in the state of Michigan.
Mendoza received her certificate in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin. She has won numerous awards for fiction, non-fiction, poetry and photography, including Writer of the Year from Writers North. Her work has appeared in more than 40 publications, both regional and national. She has also published four chapter books of poetry, and is a respected, and often quoted area historian. Watch for her next book, Looking Back at Cross Village and Beyond. It is a collection of some of Mendoza's historical research articles, which were previously published in various magazines and newspapers throughout Michigan.
